This Agreement governs the relationship between you and Kenwood Education. By ticking the agreement checkbox on our Client Registration form and submitting your details, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Agreement.
This Agreement governs the relationship between you (the “Client”) and Kenwood Education (“Kenwood,” “we,” “us”) when you engage a tutor introduced by us. By signing this Agreement, you agree to be bound by it. Tutor contact details will only be shared with you once this Agreement has been signed.
Kenwood acts as the agent, introducing you to a suitable self-employed tutor based on your stated requirements. Once introduced, the contract for tuition exists directly between you and the tutor. Kenwood is responsible for the matching process and ongoing administrative support, but is not responsible for the content of lessons or teaching methods. We vet every tutor thoroughly before introduction, but we do not guarantee specific academic outcomes.
The tutor sets their own hourly rate. Kenwood adds a margin when invoicing, which is included in the rate confirmed to you — there are no hidden charges. Each lesson is invoiced individually and automatically as soon as it is marked complete. Payment is taken by card via our payment provider, Stripe, within 5 days of the invoice date, unless paid sooner. You will need a valid card on file to cover session charges as they arise. Interest may be charged on overdue payments at 4% per annum above HSBC’s base rate, accruing daily until paid. No fee changes are binding unless confirmed to you in writing by Kenwood. Invoicing and payment collection is managed through our tutoring management platform; your card details are held securely by our payment provider, Stripe, and are not stored by Kenwood directly.
If you believe you have been charged incorrectly — for example, a session was marked complete in error, or the amount charged does not match what was agreed — please contact us as soon as possible. We will investigate and, where a charge was made in error, refund it promptly.
Your first lesson is offered at half price. This applies once per family. If you are matched with a different tutor following an unsuccessful first match, subsequent sessions are charged at full rate, save at Kenwood’s discretion.
Kenwood maintains a selective roster of tutors, each either Oxbridge or Russell Group educated with a strong academic track record, or with extensive teaching experience (such as a long, proven track-record of teaching or Head of Department roles), and works only with tutors based locally to our service areas. Where no tutor from the existing roster is a strong fit for a specific requirement, rather than placing a partial match, Kenwood may offer to conduct a dedicated recruitment search on your behalf. This process typically takes two weeks and includes interviewing, reference verification, and background checks, the same standard applied to every tutor on the roster.
A deposit of £100 is payable to commence this search. Where a suitable tutor is placed, this deposit is deducted in full from your first invoice. Where Kenwood is unable to identify a suitable tutor within the agreed window, the deposit is refunded in full.
Please notify your tutor directly if a session needs to be cancelled or rescheduled. If less than 24 hours’ notice is given, the session remains chargeable in full, save where your tutor chooses, at their own discretion, to waive this for genuine illness or emergency.
If a tutor is late for a session, it is the tutor’s responsibility to arrange to make up the lost time — usually at the end of the same session, or at the next lesson if that isn’t possible. If a dispute cannot be resolved with the tutor directly, please contact us.
If a session cannot go ahead due to circumstances beyond reasonable control, and no alternative date can be agreed within 7 days, the session will be cancelled. As invoicing only takes place once a session has been delivered and marked complete, no charge will arise for a session that does not go ahead.
A responsible adult must be present in the property throughout any session involving a student under 18. You are responsible for ensuring the environment in which sessions take place is safe and suitable.
You agree not to make any private arrangement — for tuition or payment — with a tutor introduced to you by Kenwood, whether for continued sessions, a permanent engagement, or otherwise, without Kenwood’s involvement. Should this occur, you agree to account to Kenwood for all sums paid to the tutor, without deduction, and Kenwood may seek an injunction to prevent further breaches. This applies for 12 months after your last session with the tutor.
Refer a new family or tutor to Kenwood, and once they complete 10 sessions, we’ll send you a £50 gift card as thanks.
Either party may end an ongoing arrangement with 2 weeks’ written notice.
We hold your personal data in order to provide our matching and administrative service, in line with our Privacy Notice. Your data is retained only as long as necessary for this purpose and in line with our published retention periods.
Nothing in this Agreement excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else which cannot be excluded by law. Subject to this, Kenwood’s liability is limited to the fees paid for the specific session in question.
Kenwood and the tutor are not liable for delay or failure to perform where this is due to circumstances beyond reasonable control.
You agree to indemnify Kenwood against any claim arising from your own conduct, or that of the student, in connection with the tuition arrangement.
Where this Agreement is entered into at a distance (e.g. online), you acknowledge that you have expressly requested that the service begin immediately, and understand that once tuition has commenced, your statutory right to cancel within 14 days no longer applies to sessions already delivered.
We may update this Agreement from time to time. We’ll give you written notice of any material change.
This Agreement is governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
By ticking the agreement checkbox on our Client Registration form and submitting your details, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Agreement, and that you have read and understood Kenwood’s Privacy Notice.
