Within an hour you have fifteen replies: neighbours recommending people they used years ago, tutors direct-messaging you with no credentials, a few names with no context at all. We only work with local tutors, so they show up and stay. Each is either Oxbridge or Russell Group educated with a strong academic track record, or brings extensive teaching experience, some as qualified teachers, heads of department, or examiners.
We accept just 1 in 18 applicants. Our interview and vetting process takes up to four weeks, covering background checks, references and subject knowledge, alongside an enhanced DBS check. You get someone you can trust walking through your door.
Other agencies post jobs on a board and let tutors bid for them. We don’t. We take the time to understand your child’s goals, learning style and personality, then personally match them with a tutor we believe is the right fit.
A number of our tutors bring specific training or hands-on experience supporting students with SEN, dyslexia, ADHD and other learning differences. Where this is relevant, we factor it directly into who we match your child with, not just subject knowledge.
Why in-person, not online? A tutor in the room picks up on body language, frustration and confusion instantly, and adjusts in the moment, something much harder to read through a screen. It also removes the distractions of learning at home online, and the relationship built face-to-face tends to build a child’s confidence faster, which is often as important as the subject knowledge itself.
What is a DBS check? A Disclosure and Barring Service check is an official UK government background check confirming a person has no criminal history that would make them unsuitable to work with children. We require an enhanced DBS check, the highest level, for every tutor before they meet any family.
Safeguarding is ongoing, not a one-off check. Every tutor agrees to our Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct before they’re introduced to a family, covering professional boundaries and how any concern is reported and handled. A responsible adult must be present in the property throughout every session involving a student under 18. If anything ever feels wrong to a family or a tutor, we want to hear about it immediately: we stay responsible for safeguarding throughout the placement, not just at the point of introduction.

Most of our tutors are Oxbridge or Russell Group-educated, and we verify this as part of our vetting process. In exceptional circumstances, we also work with tutors who don't fit this profile but bring outstanding credentials instead, such as a long, proven track record of teaching or tutoring success, or experience as a head of department. Every tutor, regardless of background, goes through the same rigorous vetting: interview, references, and an enhanced DBS check.
Rates typically start from around £60 per hour, rising to £120+ for our most experienced specialist tutors — examiners, Heads of Department, and those with a long, evidenced track record of results. We’re not the cheapest tutoring option in North London, and we don’t try to be: our focus is on matching your child with the right tutor for them, backed by our vetting process, not the cheapest one available. Your first lesson is 50% off, so there’s no risk in trying us before committing to anything ongoing.

Every tutor agrees to our Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct before they’re introduced to a family, covering professional boundaries, appropriate communication with students, and clear steps for reporting any concern. For sessions involving a student under 18, a responsible adult must be present in the property throughout. We also stay involved after the introduction, not just at the start, so if anything ever feels wrong to a family or a tutor, we want to hear about it straight away.
When you find a tutor through a Facebook group or Nextdoor post, you have no way of verifying their background or knowing whether they’re the right fit for your child. A tutoring agency does all of that on your behalf: vetting every tutor, matching them carefully to your child, and remaining accountable if something isn’t working.

Yes, we specialise exclusively in in-person tutoring. We believe a tutor sitting with your child in the same room produces better outcomes than online sessions for most students, particularly those who need confidence-building as much as content. There are plenty of online tutoring platforms if that’s what you’re looking for; we focus on doing in-person well.
Where no tutor on our current roster is a strong fit for a specific requirement, we’d rather tell you than place a partial match. In those cases, we may offer to conduct a dedicated recruitment search on your behalf. This typically takes two weeks and follows the same process applied to every tutor we work with: interview, reference verification, and an enhanced DBS check.
A deposit of £100 is payable to begin the search. If we place a suitable tutor, this is deducted in full from your first invoice. If we’re unable to find the right person within the agreed window, it’s refunded in full.
